Understanding Periodontal Disease: What It Is and How to Deal with It


In today’s world, more than half of the population suffer from some form of periodontal disease. Before you panic though, you first have to understand that periodontal disease is just a term used to denote gum problems. You also have to understand that, with the oral cavity full of different types of bacteria, it is only a matter of time before things could get out of hand especially if you do not have proper oral hygiene habits. Common Types of Periodontal Diseases Gingivitis is considered to be one of the most common types of periodontal disease. As the name implies, gingivitis is the inflammation of the gums. Some of the most common signs that you have gingivitis include swollen gums that bleed easily. There is, however, very rarely loss of bone tissue as well as the risk of the teeth falling out.
